I wrote this a few years ago with my dear dear friend Kimmie Rhodes.
We were writing another song and stopped to make tea and she popped these lines in the chorus out while I was pouring the milk. Needless to say I was completely enthralled with it and we wrote the rest of it quite fast. I don't know what happened to the other song we were writing.
A few years back it was recorded by Amy Grant for a "Touched By An Angel" soundtrack CD. But I always had it in the back of my mind to record for Prism.
I recorded it with my Ernest drums and background vocals,
along with Jessie Friedman-a beautiful young woman and fabulous musician who also played bass and who also happens to be his bride!
The strings were recorded in South Africa. I love how arranger Joseph Arthur had the restraint to wait until the end to have the strings come in. And I love what this song says about the human spirit...
